The Merck Manual, first published in 1899, is the world’s best-selling medical book. Originally catering to health care professionals, it was re-edited in 1997 as The Merck Manual of Medical Information – Home Edition, using everyday language and trimming down technical information (like drug dosages). Its third edition was recently published as The Merck Manual Home Health Handbook; along with it, an iPhone/iPod Touch application (developed by Agile Partners) was released.

Based on the 2009 edition of the book of the same title (one in a series of popular First Aid review books for the USMLE), this app was launched on August 20, 2009 at the price of $44.99.
