Almost 2 years to the date since they launched PocketCPR, a palm-sized device that assists in the delivery of quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) chest compressions, ZOLL Medical Corporation releases PocketCPR for iPhone. Both the device and the software utilize Real CPR Help, "the same proprietary technology found in all ZOLL defibrillators and AEDs," which provide "real-time feedback on the rate and depth of compressions." Unlike the device however, the iPhone app still lacks FDA approval , hence it can only be currently used for training, and not (yet) for clinical or rescue purposes. PocketCPR for iPhone sells at the App Store for $5.99.

Manhattan-based aesthetic plastic surgeon, Dr. David Shafer, announces The Shafer Plastic Surgery App, the world’s first plastic surgery iPhone Application.

The interactive program taps into Dr. Shafer’s informational database of over 1,000 FAQ’s covering invasive and non-invasive plastic surgery procedures and treatments. For example: “Is liposuction better than tummy tuck?” Answer: “It all depends on your body. If you have good skin elasticity, but a moderate amount of fat, then liposuction may be best. If you have loose skin and poor abdominal tone, then abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) may be your best option…”
